Meet Bill H., a Denver based triathlete.
How long have you been competing?
Triathlon has been 10 years
What does your training schedule look like this time of year?
This year I am just trying to get consistency so doing something at least 5 days a week. Mostly road running, trail running, and cycling.
What training / lifestyle tips would you give to someone who is also training?
Have a balance. Don’t be a slave to your training plan.
What does a “cheat” or “lazy” day look like for you?
Hang out with the family and go for a hike or casual bike ride.
How do you balance work, family/friends, and training?
Try to prioritize what is important to you. My family is more important than racing so I spend more time with them but will sprinkle in a race or two to keep motivation in the training.
What’s a go-to snack or meal you love?
I love pizza or tacos so anytime I can eat one of those I am happy
How does ASSM affect your training and performance?
ASSM keeps me going with training and my hectic travel schedule. I seem to get fewer injuries when training and visiting ASSM regularly than when I am not loaded into a training plan. Either way, the team at ASSM gets me fixed up and moving forward quickly.
What advice would you give to someone looking to get into your sport?
Have balance in your life.
What is your favorite event to compete in each year ?
When I have the time, Ironman is where it is at for me.
